The Brief:
Create an identity that proudly showcases John Bray and Sons’ heritage, expertise, and approachability. Whilst its history is honoured, the brand needed a fresh impetus, where a blend of modern thinking is combined with the East Sussex charm, ultimately paying homage to its location and legacy alike.

The Challenge:
It wasn’t just about designing a new identity, but more about reimagining the brand from the floor to the ceiling. With John Bray and Sons’ 150-year history being based in the same location, Hastings Old Town, this was a factor that quite frankly needed to be celebrated. One, which balances the agent’s heritage, with a bold and distinctive visual and verbal identity that aligns with the strategic goals set, that will see John Bray and Sons remain in the town for the next 150 years.

Through a brand discovery workshop, the brands values, mission, and core strategy were refined to better reflect where John Bray and Sons are today - resulting in a brand that both visually and verbally captures the essence of their who, how and why, alongside what Hastings Old Town has to offer. Positioning John Bray and Sons as the eldest, and most trusted agent in town, meant a key strategic objective was established, and one, which firmly cemented them as an integral cornerstone of the town’s fabrications.
